Reduce your risk
Did you know that at least half of all cancers could be prevented by making changes to our lifestyle?
Living a healthier lifestyle might mean making some changes in your day-to-day life. But even small changes can reduce your risk of developing cancer, along with other chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes.
Through our prevention and education programs the Cancer Council WA encourages Western Australians' to lead a healthier lifestyle by:
- not smoking
- being SunSmart
- eating a healthy diet
- increasing physical activity
- maintaining a healthy body weight
- limiting alcohol
- taking part in early detection programs
- creating healthy workplaces
These healthy lifestyle messages are also important for many people who have been treated for cancer.
