Advocacy press advertisements (2000 to 2011)
Since 2000 Cancer Council WA has used press advertisements to comment on a variety of topical tobacco issues. These advertisements have endeavoured to capture the attention of the public and the media, and raise community awareness about important smoking and health issues.

- Commemorating 50 years of lies and deceit (pdf 59kb) highlighted that it has been 50 years since the release of the publication that reported undeniable evidence on the harm caused by smoking. Yet tobacco companies continue to sell their product and as a result, the human toll of smoking continues to rise.

The advertisement encouraged smokers to think about what they’re swallowing when they smoke.

- What’s hiding in cigarettes that you don’t know about? (pdf 97kb) stated all the dangerous ingredients found in cigarettes.
- Plainly the right decision (pdf 364kb) congratulated the Australian Government and Parliament for passing laws to sell cigarettes in plain packaging.
