Help a smoker to quit
It can be difficult to watch someone you care about smoke.
However, it is important that smokers make the decision to quit for themselves and not because someone else wants them to.
A person may stop smoking because their family or friends ask them too but unless they quit for themselves they will find it hard to quit for good.
This doesn’t mean that family and friends of a smoker can’t help them quit. After making the decision to quit smoking they will need support and encouragement to get through each day, especially during the first few weeks.
Call the Quitline on 13 7848 (13 QUIT) and talk to one of their trained counsellors for more information and support on how you can help a friend or loved one quit smoking.
