Role of Practice

There are a number of things practice staff can do to assist GPs:

• Obtain more GP Kits from the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Information line – 1800 118 868.
• Ensure Participant stickers and Assessment forms are stocked up.
• Return completed Assessment forms to the register.
• Follow up patients with a positive FOBT using a reminder system.
• Organise FOBTs for those not eligible for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program
• Organise patient materials such as patient information booklets, colonoscopy brochures, bowel cancer brochures, bowel cancer fact sheets on Medical Director etc.
• Respond to general enquiries, such as eligibility, FOBT completion etc.
• Provide support for those anxious about results.
