Research
- Thanks to advances in medical research, more people with cancer are being successfully treated. But with over 200 different types of cancer there is still much work to be done.
- The Cancer Council is committed to funding research on all aspects of cancer, including cancer prevention, detection and treatment, as well as understanding and improving the emotional (psychological) and social impact of the disease. We also coordinate several events and courses for the local research community.
- Cancer Council Western Australia commits around $AUD2 million each year to cancer research. This is part of the core business of the Cancer Council and one we know the community supports. Cancer research has and will continue our progress in the fight against cancer.

Population-based cancer research
If you are conducting research relating to cancer knowledge, attitudes and practices, the NSW-based Centre for Health Research and Psycho-Oncology (CHeRP) has developed a series of survey questions in order to standardise national research data.
The Cancer Council would encourage you to use this resource as part of your research. To register and access the survey questions go to the Centre for Health Research and Psycho-Oncology (CHeRP) website.
