John Nott Cancer Fellowship and Research Fund

NEXT OFFERED IN JUNE 2011

John Nott was a well known Perth pharmacist and a patient of Dr Dennis Kermode, Head of the Department of General Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. After being diagnosed with and treated for bowel cancer, prior to his death Mr Nott established a fund managed by the Cancer Council WA in association with members of the Department of General Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Mr Nott’s aim was to help improve cancer treatment by providing funds for cancer experts to visit WA to teach local clinicians and researchers and to allow local clinicians and researchers to visit centres of excellence overseas.

The John Nott Fellowship began in 2005 and will be awarded biennially. A maximum of $10,000 will be awarded each funding round.

As the bequest was originally offered to Sir Charles Gairdner Department of Surgery, prior to each funding round, the Head of Department of General Surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital may nominate a recipient. This may be either a cancer expert from outside WA or a local staff member who intends to visit a centre of excellence interstate/overseas.
