A/Prof Tanya Chikritzhs, National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University of Technology, WA
Dr Raphael Chee MBBS FRANZCR is a radiation oncologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He is a medical graduate from the University of Western Australia and received his post-graduate training from Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Melbourne). His Fellowship was performed at the Austin and Repatriation Hospital (Melbourne) with research interests in Image Guided and 4D Radiotherapy, and clinical interests in IMRT (Intensity-modulated Radiotherapy) for mesothelioma and gynaecological brachytherapy treatment. He was a consultant at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre upon completion of his Fellowship, before returning home to Perth to take up his current post.
A/Prof Tim Driscoll is an epidemiologist and a specialist in occupational medicine and public health medicine. He is an Associate Professor in epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney; an independent consultant in epidemiology, occupational health and public health; and still works in acute clinical medicine in the public hospital system. Tim has worked on a number of projects addressing work-related cancer and cancer clusters.
Dr Christopher Steer is a consultant medical oncologist at Border Medical Oncology, Albury Wodonga who therefore works in both NSW and Victoria. He has appointments at Albury Base Hospital, Murray Valley Private Hospital and Wangaratta Base Hospital and is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales rural clinical school in Albury. Christopher completed his fellowship in medical oncology in 2000 as part of the Victorian Medical Oncology Training programme. He worked as a clinical research fellow at Guy's hospital in London for 3 years and for the final 12 months of this appointment was also the MRC trial physician for the ICON5 study of chemotherapy in advanced ovarian cancer. Whilst at Guy's Christopher gained an interest in cancer in the elderly, with particular attention to measurement of renal function. Christopher is the chair of Cancer in the Elderly Australia, a multidisciplinary interest group of COSA. He is also chair of the national representative committee of SIOG, the International Society of Geriatric Oncology and sits on the executive board of that organisation.
Dr Janette Vardy is a medical oncologist working as a clinician researcher at the Sydney Cancer Centre. She graduated from the University of Newcastle and completed her residency at Concord Repatriation and General Hospital, and specialty training in Medical Oncology at the Sydney Cancer Centre. From 2003-2006 she completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr Ian Tannock. In 2007 she commenced a NSW Cancer Institute Fellowship, allowing her 70% protected research time, and 30% clinical time, based at Sydney Cancer Centre with clinical work at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.
Dr Tanya Chikritzhs is an Associate Professor and Statistical Advisor at the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI), Curtin University of Technology. She has over ten years of experience in alcohol research, primarily as an epidemiologist and biostatistician. She leads the Alcohol Policy Research team at the Institute and is Chief Investigator for the National Alcohol Indicator Project which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. Tanya has published over 70 peer reviewed journal papers, monographs, technical reports and bulletins on the epidemiology of alcohol and related problems, alcohol policy and related areas in Australia. She also co-edited and contributed to the World Health Organization's International Guide for monitoring alcohol consumption and related harm.
