Cancer Council WA Education Sessions

  • Out trained staff can deliver education sessions on a wide range of cancer topics, including cancer prevention, screening and early detection, common cancers affecting men and women, what can be done to reduce the risk of cancer, general cancer information and the work of our organisation .

Who can we provide education to?

We deliver talks to a variety of groups, however session fees and topic availability varies.

Community Groups and sporting clubs

  • Topics: Full range of topics.
  • Cost: FREE education sessions delivered by Cancer Council staff.

Childcare and parent groups

  • Topics: Skin cancer prevention and childhood nutrition.
  • Cost: FREE education sessions for staff and parent groups by Cancer Council staff.

Primary schools

  • Topics: Skin cancer prevention.
  • Cost: FREE skin cancer education sessions for staff and parent groups by Cancer Council staff .
  • 1 FREE skin cancer education session per annum to students at SunSmart Schools by Cancer Council staff.

Secondary schools

  • Topics: Classroom presentations by Cancer Council staff on cancer prevention and early detection. Other topics may be available on enquiry.
  • Cost: $110.00 per session.

Tertiary institutions

  • Topics: Full range of topics delivered by Cancer Council staff.
  • Cost: $220.00 per session.

Workplaces

  • Topics:  Full range of topics delivered by Cancer Council staff.
  • Cost:      $330.00 per session (30 minutes to 2 hours).
  • Note:       This fee may be negotiable for small businesses, not for profit organisations, and for multiple sessions. Fees may also apply for travel outside the metropolitan area. A number of pamphlets may be provided free of charge. Larger numbers may attract a cost.

Organising a session

Session length?

Most sessions range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the topic and your requirements. Childhood nutrition talks run for 1 to 2 hours.

Minimum numbers?

Generally, a minimum group of 15 is required. If you have a smaller group, please contact us to discuss possible solutions.

Making a booking?

You can make a booking by:

The Resource Officer will try to match a speaker to suit your organisation and your requested day and time. This cannot be guaranteed. Please give us at least two weeks notice to arrange a speaker.
