Meditation can generally be defined as a self-directed practice for relaxing the body and calming the mind. Meditation can help improve quality of life for people with cancer. Research suggests it is useful for treating chronic pain and insomnia, and can help reduce anxiety, stress, and blood pressure.
Life Now Meditation is offered to people newly diagnosed with cancer, or currently undergoing or recovering from treatment. Primary carers are also eligible to attend (by themselves, or in support of a cancer patient), and are invited to register. This program is offered at an introductory level, with classes running one hour per week, for six weeks.
