Yoga has been practised for thousands of years. It is a whole body philosophy, involving breathing work, stretching exercises, postures and meditation. Yoga can help to improve overall wellbeing and fitness by increasing muscle strength, bone density, cardio-vascular fitness, flexibility, balance and co-ordination. This support program has been made possible through the generosity of community donations and is offered as an introduction to yoga. Possible benefits for cancer patients include improvements in overall quality of life, mood, sleep quality and reduced stress and fatigue. Our yoga teachers are senior facilitators with at least 350 hours training.
- Life Now Yoga is a gentle program offered at an introductory level for 6 weeks. Classes run for 1 hour each week.
- Life Now Yoga is offered to people who have been diagnosed with cancer in the last 5 years. Primary carers are also welcome to attend.
- So we can help more people to experience the many benefits of yoga, participants are invited to attend the Life Now Yoga for a maximum of three terms.
