Overview

On average GPs have 16 patients with a diagnosed cancer under their care at any one time and are therefore an important contact and source of support for the patient. At this educational evening, the Head of Service Medical Oncology at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) will discuss cancer treatment modalities, including immunotherapy, and advise how best to enquire about your patient's treatment and care. The tour of the cancer treatment facilities will provide valuable insight into the experience of patients diagnosed with cancer; bridging the gap between general practice and oncology. This session would be particularly relevant for health professionals practicing within the FSH catchment area.Learning Outcomes

1. Summarise the most common cancer treatment modalities
2. Recall the new advancements in cancer treatment
3. Describe how GPs can enquire about their patient's cancer treatment and care at Fiona Stanley Hospital
4. Describe the Cancer Centre facilities available at Fiona Stanley Hospital
