Complementary Therapy Program commences at Milroy Lodge

CCWA's Milroy Lodge now offers a Complementary Therapy Program.

The program, which commenced on October 11 aims to reduce the distress associated with a cancer diagnosis or treatment experience, and contribute to an improvement in an individual's quality of life. It is available to guests on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Three new volunteer therapists are providing Reiki to guests at Milroy Lodge with positive experiences for all that have received therapy sessions during the first week. It is envisaged that in time, the program will expand to provide additional therapies including massage, reflexology and beauty therapy to guests at the lodge,

Karen Richardson, our Cancer Support Coordinator - Accommodation Services says, "we have been planning the introduction of a complementary therapy program for some time and are pleased to be able to offer this support service to the guests within the lodge setting. They can attend their treatment sessions in the morning and are then able to enjoy the benefits of a Reiki session on their return to the lodge. All who have attended so far have attested to feeling much more relaxed and rested following the reiki".

The recently completed Complementary Therapy Program evaluation included feedback from a client stating, "I think these services are essential and make a positive and real difference to my life."
