A huge congratulations to our great friend, board member and former president, Professor Christobel Saunders who was recently inducted as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences!
Christobel is internationally recognised as one of Australia's most prominent research-orientated cancer surgeons who has contributed substantially to many clinical aspects of breast cancer research including clinical trials of new treatments.
In the past five years, Christobel has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, two research reports, three book chapters and one book.
The Academy was established to provide an impartial and authoritative voice for healthcare, informed by the best available evidence and expert advice from the best and brightest in health and medical research.
Moving forward, the role of the Academy will also be to provide independent advice to government, industry and the community on issues relating to evidence based medical practice and medical research.
Of the 22 WA surgeons nominated as fellows this year, only two were inducted.
Congratulations on this spectacular, and well-deserved achievement, Christobel!
