A competition provided by Cancer Council WA and the Parmelia Hilton Perth for people affected by cancer is helping reduce the burden of the disease.
Winners of the monthly competition are treated to a two night pamper package provided by the Parmelia Hilton Perth and includes accommodation in a King room, valet parking, treats on arrival, and buffet breakfast.
Coodanup resident Janine Gambi was undergoing treatment for her cancer when she got a call to say she had won.
"Earlier in the day I'd received some really good news regarding my test results, and when I got the call to say I'd won the competition, it was like icing on the cake," Ms Gambi said.
"I've taken part in fundraisers and competitions before, but I don't think I've won anything in my life, certainly nothing as worthwhile as this."
Ms Gambi entered the competition while accessing the Cancer Council WA's Life Now program, which provides a range of yoga, exercise and meditation classes.
She said the programs helped take the pressure off during a very difficult time.
"I felt so blessed and overwhelmed that there were these wonderful programs and people who work so hard to make our lives easier, especially while receiving treatment," Ms Gambi said.
"I was very surprised to find out how many support services we actually have access to, all of which reduce the burden of cancer."
The Life Now programs are free to people living with cancer, their carers and family members, and are funded through generous community donations.
