A new cancer information hub provided by Cancer Council WA has opened for patients and family members at St John of God Midland Public Hospital.
Located at the Day Chemotherapy Unit, the hub provides a comprehensive range of cancer-related resources so patients and their families can gain a better understanding of cancer and support services available.
Cancer Council WA's Cancer Support Coordinator Christina Line said the hub was designed to be convenient and easy to use.
"Having all of our resources in one place is very convenient for patients as it allows them to browse while receiving treatment," she said.
"They can find out about support groups, counselling services, yoga, meditation and exercise, regional services, our wig service and much more."
St John of God Hospital Midland Public Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Glen Power said the hub had been well utilised since the hospital opened in November.
"The hub provides a clear pathway for patients and their loved ones to navigate through the various cancer services available and assists them with having a greater understanding about the disease," he said.
"We are thankful for the efforts by Cancer Council WA to display such a valuable resource at our Day Chemotherapy Unit and ensure our cancer patients and their loved ones are aware of support programs and services."
A key feature of hub is a dedicated iPad that links directly to Cancer Council WA's website and online resources and had proven very popular with patients and family members alike.
Christina said the iPad is really easy to use and provides instant access to our online resources.
