Meet Priscilla and Lyndsay, 2 of Our 14 New Volunteers!

Posted 5 Apr 2017.

We recently welcomed 14 new volunteers to our team. These volunteers will be working with us in our complementary therapy program, social support program and cancer centre program.

Of our 14 wonderful new volunteers, we were able to speak to Priscilla and Lyndsay, who will be working within our complementary therapy team at our Geraldton and Midland Cancer Support Centres, about what inspired them to volunteer.

“I’ve wanted to do some volunteer work for a while now, but I haven’t quite known how to get into it. I was having a chat with a friend of mine who told me she volunteers in Geraldton providing reiki to patients at Cancer Council WA’s support centre and I thought, ‘that’s what I want to do!’ You could say that I was inspired by another”.

An experienced reiki therapist, Priscilla has been practising reiki for over two years and is also qualified in acupressure and massage.

Lyndsay worked in the electronic industry for 35 years before deciding to pursue a different career path.

“My mother has always been involved in massage and after I was made redundant in 2014, I was motivated to study for my certificate 4 in massage therapy. To ensure I keep my skills up, I decided to give back to the community and volunteer with Cancer Council WA.”

Welcome to our team Priscilla and Lyndsay (and all of our wonderful new volunteers)! We’re so excited to have you on board and are extremely grateful for your incredible generosity and kindness.
