Our top 5 ABMT fundraising tips

Posted 25 May 2017.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity for friends, family or workmates to come together, share a cuppa and some delicious food, and help West Aussies affected by cancer. This year, the official date for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday 25th May - but you can hold your own tea any time during May or June.

Funds raised through  Australia's Biggest Morning Tea help us to continue to fund vital cancer research, run our education and prevention programs and provide essential support services to thousands of WA families affected by cancer each year.

To help you along the way, we've put together our top 5 fundraising tips, check them out below!

1. If you’re hosting a bake-off, charge entrants an additional gold coin donation. They've gotta be in it to win it if they want the title of Best Baker!

2. Including a raffle in the agenda is a great way to raise money! Want to motivate your guests with a great prize? Contact local businesses, explain the cause and ask if they’d like to contribute to your morning tea by donating a prize!

3. Know an excellent cook or baker? Get them to donate delicious goodies for sale on the day! You can ask guests for a gold coin donation.

4. Place a donation box at the entrace of your morning tea and also at each guest table (or if you’re hosting buffet style, include some donation boxes throughout the food and beverage table)

5. Download a copy of our ‘How Your Money Helps’ poster from the Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea website to display at your event.

How your donations make a difference

$15 can help us provide easy-to-understand information on treatments, practical advice and emotional support to cancer patients and their families.

$25 can help us provide resources to help people in the workplace support a colleague diagnosed with cancer

$50 can help make sure there’s a cancer nurse available on 13 11 20 to offer information and support

$150 can help provide transport and accommodation for people who need to travel for vital cancer treatment

$200 can connect someone with cancer to a peer support volunteer who has been through a similar experience. Their connection can be a source of tremendous emotional support, as well as the chance to share valuable practical information

$500 can help fund a support group where people can meet and share their experiences in an emotionally supportive environment

$1000 can help support our ground-breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, with the potential to save thousands of lives.
