After 15 years as our CEO, today we farewell Susan Rooney. Susan has been an incredibly passionate, inspiring and dedicated CEO and has helped to mould Cancer Council WA into the organisation it is today.
Susan has been an incredible asset to Cancer Council WA and throughout her 15 years leading the organisation she has taken us from strength to strength. Below, we have highlighted some of our organisations biggest achievements under the careful guidance of Susan.
2002 – Susan Rooney is appointed as our CEO
2004 – The name of our organisation was changed from Cancer Foundation of Western Australia to The Cancer Council Western Australia
2005 – The West Coast Eagles became a major partner of CCWA
2006 – Our Make Smoking History Zita campaign was the most successful anti-smoking campaign in organisations history.
2006 - Enclosed areas became smoke free in WA
2007 – Our Life Now program was introduced for cancer patients and their carers
2009 – The name of our organisation was changed from The Cancer Council Western Australia to Cancer Council Western Australia
2009 –Milroy Lodge was opened, providing accommodation for country cancer patients while they undergo treatment in Perth
2015 – Commercial tanning units were banned as a result of advocacy
2015 – Cancer Council WA offices relocate to 420 Bagot Road, Subiaco
2016 – Our Reconciliation Action Planned was launched
2016 – Our first ever Cancer Council WA Lottery was launched
Thank you for your dedication, passion, generosity, knowledge and commitment over the past 15 years, Susan. You are responsible for some of our organisations biggest achievements and you will be greatly missed.
