South Perth business' Blueprint for cancer support

The team at Blueprint Wealth in South Perth.

A WA based financial planning practice this year, celebrates five years of partnership with our organisation which has delivered over $100,000 in donations and in-kind support.

Based in South Perth, Blueprint Wealth became one of our major corporate partners in 2014.

Since then, the partnership has surpassed $100,000 in contributions through pro bono financial advice and assistance, volunteer work, fundraising, and investment in our research program.

Blueprint Wealth Director Greg Major explained the partnership was very important and meaningful to his team.

"We have been providing pro bono financial advice for many years to individuals going through cancer treatment and have seen first-hand the challenges that people face during this time," Mr Major said.

"Our team is proud to support Cancer Council WA and be part of working towards achieving a cancer free future for our community."

Mr Major said the company also provides funding for early career researchers to continue their research into the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer.
"The research awards celebrate the best and brightest researchers here in Western Australia. We are proud to be part of advancing the fight against cancer," Mr Major said.

Mr Major said volunteering and fundraising for Cancer Council WA has given his team the opportunity to give back to the community and provide services to those who need it most.

"It also provides a real sense of accomplishment and connectedness to fellow team members," Mr Major said.

"The community committee provides staff with the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and enhances our team culture."

Our CEO Ashley Reid gratefully acknowledged the generosity of Blueprint Wealth and said that it was partnerships like these that made it possible to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer.

"With the support of Blueprint Wealth we have been able to make substantial investments into cancer research and alleviate the significant distress associated with financial uncertainty by providing financial advice to people affected by cancer and their families," Mr Reid said.

"Last year, the staff at Blueprint Wealth volunteered over 70 hours towards supporting regional cancer patients at our lodges by cooking a meal or helping to wash cars of patients who had travelled to Perth for treatment.

"The continued support from Blueprint Wealth helps us to make a difference to lives of thousands of Western Australians who are affected by cancer each year."

Mr Major added: "You don't have to be a multi-national company to make a difference. All businesses big or small can find a way to give back to the community."
