Three reasons why

Updated 3 Aug 2018.

Daffodil Day is Cancer Council's flagship event, raising vital funds for life-saving cancer research. Every donation helps fund world-class cancer research that could help save the life of someone you love.

This Daffodil Day, we need your support now more than ever. Here's why:

1. Every dollar helps fund vital local cancer research projects

Research like Dr Nick Gottardo's, who is working hard to find safer treatments for children with brain tumours to ensure they not only survive, but thrive. Dr Gottardo, known as ‘Saint Nick' to his former patient Chloe, is dedicated to helping young people like Chloe who can be left with devastating, long-term side effects from their cancer treatment.

With your support, researchers like Dr Gottardo are aiming to not just help more children survive cancer but also help reduce the life-long health problems that many are left to face.

Read Dr Gottardo and Chloe's story.

2. Research is key to unlocking the answers for a cancer free future

Did you know that thanks to research, 61,000 Australian lives have been saved by improvements in cancer prevention, screening and treatment over the past 20 years?

Did you know that five-year survival rates of cancer in Australia have increased from 48 per cent in the 1980s to 68 per cent today thanks to research?

And did you know that the number of Australians living with or beyond cancer is expected to increase by a staggering 72 per cent in the next 22 years?

Research is the only way to provide better treatment and outcomes for the 1 in 2 people who will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

By investing in research we can achieve a cancer free future sooner - but we need your help!

3. Your donation could save the life of someone you love, not just today but well into the future
