What to bring: $5 to purchase a candle bag to decorate in memory of a loved one, plus a can of food to weigh your bag down (all cans will be donated to Homelessness We Care Perth after the event).

What is Relay For Life?

Relay For Life brings communities together to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost and empower teams of families, friends and colleagues to raise money to fight back against cancer.

Organised by passionate, local volunteers, each Relay event is an experience that will stay with you forever.

The event includes activities to celebrate survivors and recognise their carers, along with a candlelight ceremony to honour loved ones lost. Visit the Relay For Life website for more information.

What happens at the candlelight ceremony?

Participants are encouraged to purchase a candle bag for $5 and decorate it in memory of a loved one.

The candle bags are then placed around the course and three candles are lit on the main stage to symbolise the Relay For Life mission to "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back".

To remember loves ones lost we then have a silent lap around the course while music and a photo montage of participants' family members plays.

The Relay For Life candlelight ceremony is incredibly powerful and moving. It's an experience that will stay with you forever.

We hope you will join us and celebrate, remember and fight back.
