We are very saddened to learn of the passing of one of our long-standing Relay For Life Perth committee members, Judy Robertson.
Judy played a pivotal role in our Relay For Life Perth event, first joining in 2010 as a participant before captaining her own team.
She is remembered by her loved ones as 'endlessly curious' and a person who was 'always seeking new information'. Throughout her treatment, Judy continued to work as a medical scientist with Murdoch University Veterinary School in clinical pathology.
After retiring in 2012, she passionately served on the Perth Relay For Life committee, looking after our survivors and carers, coordinating their opening walk around the track.
Judy was diagnosed with cancer three times in her lifetime, learning of her first diagnosis over 20 years ago. At the time of her passing, Judy was seeking treatment for pancreatic cancer.
Her team, 'Thousand Reasons' is made up of three generations of family who look forward to Relay each year.
A favourite quote of Judy's is:
"When life gives you one hundred reasons to cry, it also gives you one thousand reasons to smile."
Judy was highly respected throughout the Relay community and will be missed by many. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends.
Rest in peace, Judy.
