Donate to cancer research on World Cancer Day

Updated 7 Feb 2022.

Support WA cancer research by donating to our Cancer Research Giving Day to be held on World Cancer Day, Friday 4 February, 2022.

Every dollar you donate on or before 4 February 2022, will be matched by a group of generous donors, so a $1 donation will translate to $2 for local cancer research.

Our CEO, Ashley Reid, said this year we hope to raise $400,000 to allow researchers to continue their ground-breaking work.

"Every year around 13,000 West Australians hear the words ‘you have cancer' and even the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped the impact of cancer," Mr Reid said.

"Survival rates for some of the most common cancers including breast, melanoma and prostate cancer is more than 90 per cent, and the overall five-year survival rate for all cancers is more than 70 per cent.

"This, in part, is thanks to research that informs improvements in screening, diagnosis and treatment.

"However, stopping cancer starts by understanding it and research is the key to unlocking the answers we need for a cancer free future.

"We must continue to fund our world-class local researchers to improve diagnosis, detection and treatment for every cancer and every West Australian affected by it.

"The generosity of people donating to research gives hope.

"It allows researchers to innovate, try completely new ideas and approaches. It gives researchers the instruments they need to improve diagnostics and treatment outcomes.
